Hilla Tykkyläinen

Hilla Tykkyläinen is a professional film editor with diverse experience with editing. Passionate about storytelling in all forms, she has worked as an editor for short films (Special Kinda Bad Feeling, Wrist Shot, Crazy Crabs from Outer Space), podcasts (Tiedettä vai Tarinaa) and commercial videos (Vallilan Vaara).

As an editor Hilla's strengths are her strong communication skills and curiosity towards finding the narrative. She finds working with people to bring out the best ideas. One of her key factors as a storyteller is her way of interpreting art and being able to connect with the material she works with.

In addition to editing, Hilla pursues painting and crafting in her spare time, as she finds parallels between these crafts and her work in film: as crafting plays with physical material, editing allows you to play with time. Her love for drawing led her to study animation as a minor subject in Aalto university, which she also studied in her Bachelor's thesis. She graduated as Master of Arts in 2025, with her Master's thesis discussing the re-editing of films. In the future Hilla is looking forward to offering her vision and skills as a storyteller in the editorial department.
